Another boiling hot day - in the middle of a heat wave. It reached 35 degrees today. I'm glad it wasn't a longer walk. Met up with Mrs Geordie at midday and off we went. I had sandles on - I buried my broken boots in the bin last night. Again, a path for much of the way so it worked out well.
Minchella's ice cream beckoned but I resisted! At least for now.
Really liked this walk as we saw the ferry coming out of North Shields whilst we nattered about the future and exciting plans for both of us. Symbolic, I thought.
We passed Trow Point and Frenchman's Bay. Popular with sea fishing but didn't see any today. No French men neither.
We stumbled upon Man Haven Beach. I had to look it up after the walk as there are no signs and was a remote bay with gravelly steps down to a secluded sun trap with eerie caves and crevices. How rude, I thought, and immediately dropped the 'man' bit. I could have stayed a while here and easily had a dip, it was burning hot. We decided it was one to return to one day, with a bbq, brolly and beach towel. Sharp on the feet I thought, as the waves pulsated the shoreline with a dreamy splashing sound.
Finishing up at the Marsden Grotto, the pub built into the rock and accessible by lift, we called it a day!! Time to get out of the direct sun and have some refreshments.
